have ceased on his departure from the Colony or at

least on his arrival in the United Kingdom and in the

event of his electing for and obtaining fresh employ-

ment in the public service, any such break will debar

him from counting the period served on agreement as

pensionable service under the continuous pension scheme.

If however he were still on leave from his first Colony

at the time of obtaining employment in a second Colony

the general rule would hold by which service on the

temporary establishment if immediately followed without

break by service on the permanent establishment counts

in full for pension. It is, of course, realised that

the second and subsequent tours of employment might

also be on agreement and that the officer might never

arrive at permanency, but I submit that the point now

raised is one of some importance which might be examined

in relation to the special arrangements which have been

made for the pensions of Nursing Staff in accordance

with Mr. Amery's circular despatch of 16th April, 1926. 20

I have the honour to be,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's most obedient,

humble servant,

Live

Governor, &c.
